Eleven Paws Photography is a private, dog-friendly San Diego dog photography studio, created for people who want more than just photos of their dog. This is about slowing down for a second and capturing the connection you share.
You don’t need a perfectly trained dog or a dog who “knows what to do.” They just get to be themselves. I guide you through a calm, relaxed studio dog photography session designed to help your dog feel safe, comfortable, and understood, whether they are energetic, shy, reactive, or simply full of personality.
As a San Diego dog photographer, I specialize in dog and owner portraits and studio dog photography, creating a guided experience that is tailored to your dog’s comfort, personality, and pace. Every session is designed to feel easy, natural, and genuinely reflective of your relationship.
Together, we create meaningful dog portraits with their people that become part of your everyday life. Custom artwork designed for your heart and your home.
This San Diego dog photography studio was designed to feel calm, quiet, and easy for your dog from the moment you arrive. There are no crowds, no rushing, and no pressure to perform. Everything is intentionally created to help your dog settle in and feel comfortable.
At Eleven Paws, every session is guided by your dog’s personality. Whether they are energetic, shy, anxious, reactive, or slowing down in their senior years, the experience is built to meet them exactly where they are. Sessions move at your dog’s pace, using patience, positive reinforcement, and clear direction so they never feel overwhelmed.
My focus, as a San Diego pet photographer, is always on creating an environment where your dog feels safe, understood, and supported. I take time to learn about your dog before your session so that when you arrive, everything feels thoughtful, prepared, and calm. When your dog feels comfortable, their personality comes through naturally, and that is what makes these portraits feel real.
My dog gets some extreme anxiety anytime we go to a new place... Mekinsey was really great at letting me just try and calm down my dog and was extremely patient and understanding of her being nervous. She ended up getting some really great shots when my dog was feeling it. The low pressure environment she created was great and she never made me feel like she was annoyed with my dog during the entire session.
Definitely recommend if you have a high anxiety dog!

Mekinsey was a blast to work with! She was so sweet to Charlie. Charlie had a really good time modeling for her. The pictures came out amazing, Charlie looks adorable! Awesome experience.

- Anna d,
It was a blast working with Mekinsey getting holiday photos done of my GSD and myself. She knows her craft extremely well and can get the pups to do anything. Such a personable individual and she works inside my favorite independent dog store (NW Dog) in downtown Poulsbo.

Dogs shape our lives in ways that are hard to put into words. They greet us at the door. They sit beside us in silence. And somehow, they grow older far too quickly.
Photographing your dog now, while they’re here, is one of the most meaningful things you can do.
This studio experience is especially meaningful for:
• Dog parents who want to be in the photos
• Families who value printed artwork
• Senior dogs and legacy sessions
• Rescue dogs and adoption stories
• Puppies and milestone moments
At Eleven Paws, every session is created with intention. This isn’t just about taking photos. It’s about creating something you’ll see, feel, and live with every day.
Your dog is part of your home, and the artwork we create should feel the same way. Designed to belong in your space, not just sit on your phone.
We offer custom, in-house framing using hardwoods like walnut and white oak, along with a curated selection of fine art prints, albums, and canvas pieces. Everything is chosen with longevity, style, and your home in mind.
From the moment we connect, I guide you through the process so the final pieces feel personal, meaningful, and truly yours. Something that reflects your dog, your connection, and the space it’s meant to live in.
My goal, as a San Diego pet photographer, is not just to create images, but to design custom wall art and printed artwork you can live with every day.
From puppies to senior dogs, every stage of your dog’s life deserves to be documented. As a San Diego dog photographer, I work with dogs of all ages, temperaments, and energy levels, creating a calm, guided experience that allows their personality to come through naturally.
Whether you are celebrating a new puppy with a puppy photoshoot, planning a birthday or milestone session, or looking for dog and owner portraits that reflect your everyday connection, these sessions are designed to feel relaxed and meaningful. Many clients come in for family photos with their dog, dog mom and dog dad sessions, or to create professional dog portraits in a private San Diego photography studio.
For those navigating more emotional seasons, senior dog photography and end of life pet photography sessions are approached with extra care, patience, and intention. These sessions are about slowing down, honoring your dog’s presence, and creating images that hold onto the bond you share.
As a San Diego dog photographer specializing in studio dog photography, every session is tailored to your dog and your story. Whether you are documenting the beginning, the middle, or the later years, the goal is always the same: to create timeless dog portraits and meaningful artwork you can live with every day.
Founder and photographer
Eleven Paws Photography is led by San Diego dog photographer Mekinsey, whose work is rooted in the connection between dogs and the people who love them.
Inspired by her own three dogs, she created a calm, dog-centered studio experience where dogs can settle in, be themselves, and feel safe. Her work focuses on creating meaningful portraits and custom artwork designed to live in your home and stay with you for years to come.

My Photography process
Step 01
step 02
step 03
step 04
We start with a conversation about your dog — their personality, quirks, and what helps them feel comfortable. We’ll also talk through what you’re hoping to create and where your artwork will live in your home.
Let’s connect and plan your session
As a San Diego dog photographer, each session is built around connection. Whether you are looking for dog portraits, photos with your dog, or a full dog and owner session, the goal is to create images that feel natural and meaningful. Dog photography sessions are designed to be relaxed, guided, and tailored to your dog’s comfort level from start to finish.
